How do I apply to 9th grade at BSGE?
Your current school submits the NYC High School Application to the Department of Education. The Department of Education then sends your application to us. On the application, your school includes the student’s 7th grade class grades, 7th grade standardized Reading and Math results, and 7th grade attendance.
What is the high school program admissions code to BSGE?
Our NYCDOE High School Application Program Code is Q41A
Do I have to list BSGE as #1 on the NYCDOE High School Application form?
Students do not have to put BSGE first. List your school choices in your order of preference.
Do I need to take a test to get into your high school?
No. There is no high school admission test for BSGE.
Do I need to have an interview to get into your high school?
No. There is no interview for high school admission to BSGE.
I did not attend public school in 7th grade. What standardized exams do I submit?
Parochial schools traditionally give the Terra Nova. Private schools give tests such as the Stanford or ERB. Your school will submit these results. If your school does not give any standardized exam at all, the school records that are included in your NYCDOE High School Application will be reviewed.
All my class grades except one are above 90. Do I need a minimum grade of 90 in every subject?
No. All class grades will be reviewed.
I was absent from school for an extended period of time because of illness or family issues. Will you still consider my application?
Ask your counselor to indicate “Extenuating Circumstances” on your high school application.
What types of transportation are available to reach the school?
We are accessible by NYC Transit subways and buses.
Should I send a letter of recommendation?
No. We do not read letters of recommendation.
When is the deadline to apply for 9th grade?
High school admissions deadlines are set by the NYCDOE and your current school. Check with your current counselor.
Can I transfer in to 10th, 11th or 12th grade?
We can only review applications for 9th grade through the NYCDOE high school application process. Please contact your local NYCDOE Family Welcome Center if you have questions regarding transferring high schools.
