We are looking forward to seeing everyone at tonight’s CAS night! Peter Wilson will give a brief overview of the Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) program, a requirement of all IB diploma candidates. But more importantly, tonight affords a wonderful opportunity to see the actual projects completed by our seniors and discuss their individual CAS experiences. 10th and 11th grade students and their families are required to attend. We think this is a great program for all our parents.
(We will also be forming our Nominating Committee for our June 6th PTA/SLT election.)
See everyone tonight at 6:30!

One of our HS teams will advance in Moody’s Mega-Math Challenge. With over 9,000 teams registered, a little over 1200 submitted viable papers and only 200 were selected as semi-finalists for the second round. We will find out if we go further as one of five finalists next week. Kudos to “Team 9429”!
Congratulations to the Helping Hands Committee and Peter Wilson for another successful Blood Drive on Friday March 17 in partnership with the New York Blood Center. Students, staff, and families came out in droves to participate.
The BSGE PTA is launching a new Generosity.com campaign, this one focused on our teachers! The PTA has always supported the work of our teachers, and now we are giving you the opportunity to do so directly! Obviously we will fund our afterschool program, but we also hope to help expand teacher training, including IB training, professional development, and training focused on the social emotional needs of our students to create classrooms more conducive to learning. We are hoping to encourage more teachers to use Engrade to improve the connection between teachers and parents by expanding teacher access to computers. And we also want to ensure that teachers have the supplies they need in the classroom.
Our suggested annual donation is $500, which is actually less than other comparable NYC public high schools – and please consider that BSGE provides our students with an education equivalent to that of a private school. If you are fortunate and can give more, please do. If $500 is difficult, please send us a smaller donation. We are grateful for all donations.
Please join our effort (and please ask your friends and family!) by donating through this link:
or share this short link on Twitter or Facebook: http://bit.ly/2ldjnEo
We know that many of you have appreciated the ease of donating through Generosity.com. The last campaign raised over $12,000!
As always: The BSGE PTA is a 501(c)3 charity, so 1) all donations are tax deductible, and 2) many companies will match charitable donations from their employees, so PLEASE check with the human resources department at your company. Matching is an easy way to double the impact of your contribution. Many thanks to all the parents who have already done so!!!!
The Senior Council has decided to postpone our Lounge Night: Open Mic @ Coffeed for a later date yet to be determined. If you have purchased a ticket, you can return it to the Senior Council member you purchased it from. We will keep you informed of our new date and look forward to all the BSGE talent coming out for that event.
